About:
Ph.D. in Latin American Studies at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), M.A. in Sociology and Political Science at the University of Vienna, and postdoctoral studies at the UNAM Research Center on Latin America and the Caribbean (CIALC). Member of the Mexican National System of Researchers.

Full-time researcher and professor at the Instituto de Investigaciones Dr. José María Luis Mora in Mexico City. Lecturer at the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras (FFyL) at UNAM. Between 2005 and 2010 she worked as researcher and academic coordinator for the Mexican Non-Governmental-Organization Fundar, Center for Analysis and Research, and as an external evaluator for the political training program “Agentes de Cambio” of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) in Central America. Actually, she is part of the coordinating team of the Inter-institutional Seminar “Theoretical and Methodological Strategies to study Violence in Latin America” (Instituto Mora/Dirección de Estudios Históricos-Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia) and participates in the Seminar “Central America: Geopolitics, Borders and Territory” (Instituto Mora/University of Quintana Roo).

Research focus:
Social movements, collective action, and political identities in Latin America
Social practices and historical dynamics of political violence in Central America and Mexico.
