Carolin Brodtmann forscht zu extrem rechten Ideologien im Natur- und Umweltschutz sowie zu Gender-Natur-Verhältnissen in der sozial-ökologischen Transformation. In ihrer Doktorarbeit untersucht sie zivilgesellschaftliche Gegenbewegungen und demokratisch-emanzipatorische Antworten auf extrem rechte Ökologien. Vorher studierte sie Politik, Soziologie und sozial-ökologische Ökonomie an der Humboldt Universität zu Berlin und der Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien. Außerdem war sie in der Forschungsgruppe CoalExit an der Technischen Universität Berlin tätig, wo sie sich mit Gendergerechtigkeit in Transformationsprozessen – konkret Kohleausstiegen – beschäftige.

Carolin Brodtmann’s research focuses on far-right ideologies in nature conservation and environmental protection, as well as gender-nature relations in socio-ecological transformations. In her doctoral thesis, she examines democratic and emancipatory responses to, and counter-movements against, far-right ecologisms. She previously studied Politics, Sociology, and Socio-Ecological Economics at Humboldt University, Berlin, and the Vienna University of Economics and Business. She also worked for the CoalExit research group at the Technical University of Berlin, where her research focused on gender justice in transformation processes, particularly in relation to coal phase-outs.
