PhD Simon Lobach

Simon Lobach is an environmental historian, particularly interested in the social and environmental aspects of mining and extractivism. Obtained a PhD from the Geneva Graduate Institute on a socio-environmental history of aluminium production in the Amazon. Currently Swiss National Science Fund (SNSF) fellow at the University of Vienna, as well as active in the Scaling Up Agroecology (Scalagro) initiative in Geneva. Previous degrees in History, Latin American Studies and International Affairs from Geneva and Leiden, several years of experience in multilateral environmental cooperation, lived in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Brazil, Cuba and Norway.
